I have never believed that I was made to be average.
Now, let’s be honest—on the ball field, on certain exams, in writing competitions, in my height, in my weight, in my shoe size—I’ve been, most certainly, average. But deep down, I’ve never thought I was meant to be average.
And despite looking like a million dollars today, 😂 I’ve been broke. I grew up poor. Even in grad school, I was so broke I couldn’t afford to buy a vowel to spell poor.
Because of that, I have a visceral reaction whenever I feel average or lacking in any way. I’m allergic to it. I break out in self-analysis.
I’m not supposed to be average. I’m not supposed to be broke.
When I begin my day, I imagine I’m supposed to duck my head as I rush out the door so I don’t hit the doorframe because of my height, and I’m supposed to leap into my Batmobile that Alfred has warmed and fueled for me.
I am not made to be average. And neither were you.
God’s Vision for Your Life
That kind of thinking doesn’t begin with self-help books or pep talks. It starts with a vision God planted in your heart before you could even understand it.
From the very beginning, God intended for you to lead, to excel, to be more than ordinary, to reflect His love, mercy, and greatness in all you do.
The Lies We Hear
But here’s the challenge: life, circumstances, and words from others try to convince you otherwise.
“You’ll never be anything. You’ll never have anything. Nobody will ever love you.”
Maybe those words were said by parents, teachers, or peers. They’ve soaked deep into your heart, germinated, and produced weeds of doubt and fear.
Renewing Your Mind
Romans 12:2 reminds us:
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…”
That transformation isn’t optional. It’s the only way to break free from the weeds and grow the harvest God intended for you.
A Moment of Conviction
You have to come to a moment of total conviction.
A moment where you commit to living GREAT…not for your glory, but for His.
To go all in.
To shine as a reflection of God’s love, mercy, and excellence in everything you do.
You were made for more than average. You were made to be extraordinary. Not by your strength, but by His.
Step Into That Greatness
So today, decide to step into that greatness.
Break free from the lies.
Let God’s vision for you rise higher than fear or circumstance.
Live for Him.
Shine for Him.
Stand tall.
Be extraordinary for Him.
That’s exactly what He created you to be.
Yours in faith,
Roy
