A Freedom The World Can’t Touch

With all the headlines—lawsuits, debates, and public battles over free speech and personal rights—freedom is once again front and center in America’s conversation.

Freedom of expression. Freedom of religion. Freedom of thought.

These are deeply important, and we rightly value them. But Scripture reminds us that there’s a freedom even deeper, more eternal, and untouched by courts or constitutions.

“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” — John 8:36

The freedom Jesus offers isn’t just political or social. It’s freedom from sin. From guilt. From the need to prove yourself. From the chains of shame, fear, and death.

No government can grant it.
No court can revoke it.
No enemy can steal it.

As followers of Christ, let’s stay engaged in our world, but let’s never forget where our true and lasting freedom comes from—it was purchased not by paper and ink, but by the blood of the Lamb.

This week, as we seek to celebrate our country’s Independence amidst the noise of a culture wrestling over rights, may we rest in the quiet confidence that we are already free.  Our independence was bought long ago.  Yes, we are free—free indeed.
