When You’re Not Where You’re Supposed to Be
Somewhere in the forests of Berlin, a wallaby is hopping around like he owns the place. He doesn’t. He belongs in the Australian outback, not dodging German traffic and licking his paws on dimly lit sidewalks while baffled pedestrians try to film him.
Authorities aren’t even chasing him anymore. Why? Because, well… they don’t have kangaroo-catching equipment, just dog snares and blankets. Bless them for trying.
While it makes for an amusing headline, it also makes for an oddly relatable moment:
Ever feel like a wallaby in Berlin?
Out of place. Somewhere you never expected to be. Maybe running from something. Maybe just… lost.
The Bible is full of people who ended up in places they never planned to go. Jonah in the belly of a fish. Joseph in an Egyptian prison. Ruth in a foreign land. And yet, in those unexpected places, God was not absent. In fact, those detours became divine appointments.
Sometimes life drops us in forests we didn’t choose…out of our element, unsure and wondering how we got there. But the good news? God isn’t confused by our location. He doesn’t need special equipment to find us. He doesn’t give up the chase.
“Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.” — Psalm 139:7–8
So, whether you’re right where you’re supposed to be, or accidentally hopping through someone else’s life, take heart: God sees you. He’s not puzzled by your path or thrown off by your detours. No matter how far off course you feel, He knows exactly where you are, and He knows how to lead you home. Even in the most unexpected places, you are never out of His reach.
