I remember in college how difficult it was to ask a girl out on a date. Which, in a way, seems silly when what I was asking a girl for permission to do was, “Can I spend all of my money to feed you and provide some entertainment for a moment of your life?” But asking a girl out on a date IS quite scary. And then I’d wonder “Why am I so afraid? And am I going to let the fear stop me from asking her?”
There are moments in all our lives where fear causes us to hesitate or give up on a course of action that could change our lives for the better. And, of course, there are much greater fear-producing situations than asking someone out on a date. I can think of things like: financial investments, changing jobs, growing a family, navigating difficult illnesses, making end-of-life decisions, and I’m just grabbing a few situations off the top of my head. Life is filled with fear-inducing decisions and circumstances. What are we going to do with it? A better question to ask is “What would God have us do with that?”
Did you know that “Do not fear” is in the bible 365 times? It looks like God is trying to make a point. He doesn’t want fear to stop us from living our dreams and fulfilling His purposes for us – regardless of the obstacles. God wants us to move forward in a dependence upon Him and trusting that He gives us the strength to overcome daily struggles AND spiritual ones.
I love this verse in I Peter 5:7 “Cast all your cares upon Him, because He cares for you.”
Regardless of what you’re up against, God is saying to you today, “Do not be afraid.” “Be strong and courageous.” “Fear not.” “You can trust me.”
Are you ready to BOLDLY live each day full of hope, joy, and peace?
Today, let your faith be bigger than your fear.
Yours in faith,
Roy
