Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Christmas in our home is filled with traditions. I’d say you and I are not much different in that regard. Whether it be certain foods, readings, decorations, or even movies…there are just some things that help make the holiday special. A favorite tradition of many is an annual viewing of the movie “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
The film reveals George Bailey’s crisis as he grapples with feelings of inadequacy and despair. He believes his sacrifices have gone unnoticed, and his dreams have been thwarted. Yet, through the intervention of his guardian angel, Clarence, he discovers the profound impact he has had on the lives of those around him. This film reminds us that even the smallest acts of kindness can create ripples of change, shaping lives in ways we may never fully understand.
I don’t know what kind of year you’ve experienced or if a seat may be empty at your table this Christmas dinner. You may be feeling a little bit like George, beaten down, hopeless, unnoticed, unloved. Like George, it can be easy to lose sight of our worth and the influence we have on others. It’s easy to get caught up in our struggles and forget that God has a unique purpose for each of us.
The baby that we celebrate. The child of God. The Savior of your heart. He lived, He died, and He rose again that we might have eternal life and realize our full potential through Him. Before you were even created, He had plans for you, formed your days, and laid out a path uniquely designed for you. He placed an immeasurable value on your soul and laid out good works for you to experience joy and impact all those around you.
When you feel discouraged, look back on your life and consider how you have made a difference, no matter how small. Remember, just as George Bailey learned, your life matters. God has a plan for you, and He gives you the ability to make your presence in the world a blessing to those around you. Embrace your role in His story, and shine your light brightly!
Wishing you Faith for today,
